Sikh Students Federation held Three Days Gurmat Camp at Bhangani Sahib
Bhangani Shaib (Himachal) August 12, 2007.
Sikh Students Federation organized a three days Gurmat and youth Awairness camp. This camp was organized form 10 to 12 August 2007 at the historic Bhangani Sahib (Himachal) near Paunta Sahib. Students from various districts of Punjab participated in this camp. The camp was started after performing ardas at Gurudwara Bhangani Sahib on 10 August. In first session of each day during the camp Katha of Jap Bani was done by S. Daljit Singh Karnal. On first day of the camp S. Kamaljit Singh, while addressing the students said that the object of the camp is to aware Sikh youth about our history, culture, heritage and Gurmat. He also presented a brief report on activities of Sikh Students Federation during last academic session and informed students about this session’s upcoming activities.
During second session of first day S. Sewak Singh (Ex-president of Sikh Students Federation and Sub-editor of Sikh Shahadat) told students that Gurbani and History is the base of life for a Sikh. In this way Guru and martyrs are our ideals. He emphasized on interpretation of Gurbani according to norms set by (History) life of Gurus. He said we are not successful in developing our own norms for interpretation of Gurbani therefore we are unable to give right direction to our nation. He said Raj Karega Khasla is a destination for the Sikh Youth and we should understand it in the same sense as was understood by Sikhs in eighteenth century. He said we should work hard in study and in other fields as well. During last session of this day all students introduced them selves to other participants and shared their views also.
On second day S. Surinderpal Singh Tharua (Ex-leader of Sikh Students Federation) shared his views with all participants. He gave a brief introduction of the situation of Sikhs at the time of formation of AISSF in 1944. He also flashed light on role played by SSF since it’s’ formation. He said that Panth has many expectations from Federation which we should always keep in mind. IT is worth mentioning here that S. Surinderpal Singh is the person with whose field efforts the SSF was re-organized in 2001 and its leadership was handed over to the Sikh Students.
During third session of this day which started at 3:30 PM S. Sewak Singh gave his speech on Organization. He gave many valuable suggestions to leadership of Federation. He said commitment with the cause of organization and sense of responsibility among its members are the keys of success for any organization.
Last session of this day was held from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM in which S. Mandhir Singh (Ex-President of SSF), Advocate S. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur (Ex-General Secretary of SSF) and S. Hardip Singh (Ex-leaders of SSF) shared their views with students attending the camp.
On last day of the camp S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi firstly thanked Guru Sahib for making this effort of SSF successful. Then he thanked all who participated in the camp and shared their view with members of SSF. He also extended his thanks to the management of Gurudwara Sahib who provided residence to members of Federation and co-operated in all ways during the camp. A set of five books was presented to all participants. These books are 1.) Sikh Raaj Kiven Banea? (Author: Giani Sohan Singh Sheetal), 2.) Sikh Raaj Kiven Giya? (Author: Giani Sohan Singh Sheetal), 3.) Sikh Vichardhara (Author: Prof. Pritam Singh), 4.) Hum Hindu Nahin (Author: Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha), 5.) Vihvin Sadi Di Sikh Rajneeti (Author: S. Ajmer Singh). At last ardas was performed at Gurudwara Sahib. In this way this camp concluded successfully.
