Gurmat Camp by Sikh Students Federation at Bahadurgarh (Patiala)

The Sikh Students Federation organized a Gurmat Camp at Gurudwara Novin Patshahi Bahadurgarh Sahib (Patiala). This camp was organized at the district level from 09 to 10 March, 2007.

On the first day of the camp Prof. Devinder Singh Mohali addressed the youth. He discussed the tradition and institution of "Gurmata" with the students. He gave valuable information to the students regarding GURMATA in its historical and traditional perspective. Discussing the relevance and need to revive the institution of Gurmata he said that it is a unique system of decision-making for Sikhs. He said it is a participatory system and is much better than representative system prevailing today in the world over. He emphasized the need of developing this tradition-cum-institution. After his lecture there was question-answers session in which youth took special interest.
On the first session of Second day of the camp Prof. Harbhajan Singh shared his views with the youth. He discussed various aspects of "Jap" Bani commonly known as Japji Sahib. Giving basic introduction of Jap, he said it is an Edited Bani.
In Second session of this day S. Sewak Singh, Sub-editor of Sikh Shahadat (Punjabi Monthly Magazine). Sharing his views with the youth attending at the camp he said that we should not adopt negative thinking or attitude and instead of rejecting the things we should try to remove their shortcomings. He emphasized that students should develop reading habit.
In the last of the Camp S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi, President of Sikh Students Federation shared his views with students and thanked all who helped federation to organize the camp. Students from Punjabi University (Patiala), Mohindra College (Patiala), Khalsa College (Patiala), Patel College (Rajpura) and from Bahadurgarh and Fatehgarh Sahib also participated in the camp. In this camp the stage was conducted by S. Hardev Singh Karnal, (General Secretary of Sikh Students Federation) and S. Kamaljit Singh (Press Secretary of Sikh Students Federation). Necessary arrangements for stay of students and related jobs were very well conducted by S. Parmjeet Singh (Distt. President Patiala) and S. Azad Singh (President of Punjabi University, Patiala Unit).
