  • Sikh Students Federation Criticised
Arrest of Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu
SSF Accused Police for Recent Dera Sikh Clash in Mansa
    (Patiala : 03 September 2007)

The Sikh Students Federation strongly criticized the arrest of Sikh Leader Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu by Mulanpur Police terming it as undue interference by State Machinery in religious matters of Sikhs. In a Press Statement S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi, President of SSF said that Bhai Daljit Singh was going to attend opening ceremony of Sri Akhand Path near Talwandi Khurd when he was arrested by the police under preventive law. He once again blamed that law is being misused against Sikhs in Punjab by Indian State. On one side Government of Haryana is protecting Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) head Gurmit Ram Rahim by providing Z+ Security to him on the other hand Punjab Government is harassing Sikhs and restraining them from attending religious ceremonies.

Gazi also criticized the role of police in recent clash between Dera Sauda followers and Sikhs at village Alampur Mandran near Mansa. He blamed police for favouring dera followers. Earlier today dera followers challenged Sikhs openly through a loud speaker. He said this challenge lead to clash which left many injured including Bog Singh of same village seriously. He said SSF workers reached in Mansa Hospital to help injured and came to know that SHO Gurdip Singh had actively worked against Sikhs. In this incident dera followers attacked Sikhs with acid and many Sikhs received burn injuries.
