and SGPC Cheif on Outlook Issue
(Ultimatum to Outlook till 25 August.)
    (Dated: 17 August 2007)

SSF President S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi
Tendering memorandum to Akal Takht
Jathedar about Outllok Issue Representatives of Sikh Students Federation led by its President S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi met Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh today. A Five member delegation of SSF tendered a memorandum at the Takht Sahib and has brought the matter of disrespect of Sikh Personalities, Sikh Martyrs and Sikh Symbols to the notice of Jathedar Sahib. S. Parmjeet Singh Gazi informed media that SSF has sought action against Outlook Magazine as it has disrespected Sikh Martyrs, declared as such by the Akal Takht, Sant Jarnail Singh Khasla Bhindranwale, Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Beant Singh. He said these Sikhs are martyrs of Sikh Struggle and there martyr days are annually observed at Sri Akal Takht but magazine has shown them as villains. It is worth mentioning that Sant Bhindranwale is declared Great Sikh of 20th Century by the entire Sikh Nation. Cartoon published in August 14-20 issue of the Outlook weekly magazine has shown grenades, guns and other weapons hanging in the beard of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji. Magazine has shown disrespect and feeling of hatred towards Sikh identity by publishing this cartoon. SSF claimed that hairs, turban and beard are primary Sikh Symbols and no disrespect to them can be tolerated. SSF has urged the Akal Takht to take required action against the magazine. Other members of the delegation were S. Azad Singh, S. Sukhwinder Singh and S. Gurjiwan Singh. A copy of same memorandum was also tendered to SGPC cheif, S. Avtar Singh in his office.

Akal Takht Jathedar has given ultimatum to Outlook Editor to appologize till 25 August.
